Is there a reason that this has to be a seperate js file?

Can I simply pull the lines in this file out and stick them at the top of the engine?

I should have stated that I do have the Advanced Developer License; if that makes a difference.

Yes, you may - and it's because you have the advanced license which allows you modify the engine file directly.
